On a daily basis, your child will “discover” answers to questions. The teacher will never simply tell your child the answers. This trains your child early on how to be responsible for his or her learning and to seek out information.
Shepherd Christian School is registered with the Ohio Department of Education as a charter, non-public school. SCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

Shepherd Christian School welcomes students and families of every faith background. We are hosted by Shepherd Church of the Nazarene which influences our teaching. We have Chapel every week where we teach various Bible stories. Parents, you are welcome to attend Chapel if you are curious! PreK - Full-time 5 days $7,500, Part-time 3 days $5,800
Our school is for grades kindergarten through eighth grade. All of our kindergarten classes are full day. We also offer a five full day and three full day pre-k program.
We strive to maintain a low student to teacher ratio of approximately 18:1. This enables us to focus on the needs of each individual student.
Classes begin at 8:00 and end at 3:00. We do offer child care before and after school for an additional cost. Extended care is available for any child enrolled at Shepherd Christian School.
We have a dress code with styles and colors that are available at most stores.
Yes, we offer a hot school lunch. Currently breakfast is $2.00 and lunch is $3.00. (Prices subject to change next school year.) We do participate in the USDA free/reduced meal program. Our school menu is diverse and available for every student enrolled.
We also co-ed soccer, girls volleyball, winter basketball, cheerleading and track. All sports are fee-based. Our curriculum is also designed so that each child will experience a wide range of subjects during school hours.
No, however, your public school district will reimburse you. You need to contact them at the beginning of the school year for details about how to get your reimbursement.
Special classes include physical education, music, innovation, outdoor education and Spanish. These classes provide a great addition to our curriculum, shaping each student into a well-rounded individual.
No, not from our families. We do require this from our teachers.
Yes, we use the ACSI Bible Purposeful Design. We also have chapel each week.
Yes, we require our teachers to follow our Statement of Beliefs.
All faculty members have acquired Ohio Department of Education certification, and training by the Association of Christian Schools International.

The State of Ohio also offers scholarships through the Ohio Christian Network / Ohio’s Scholarship Granting Organization (OCEN SGO) Scholarship applications will be available in January 2026.
