Admissions Process

Choosing a Christ-centered learning community is an important decision for every family. At Shepherd Christian School, we are honored to partner with parents as we nurture students spiritually, academically, socially and physically. Our admissions process is designed to help your family experience who we are and determine whether SCS is the right fit for your child.

Step 1:  Request a Tour
Your journey begins with a visit to our campus.
To request a tour, please visit:
ShepherdChristian.org → Schedule a Tour.
We look forward to welcoming you and showing you what makes Shepherd Christian School a place where students grow in faith, knowledge, and character.

Step 2:  Attend the Tour
During your campus tour, you will have the opportunity to:
•    Meet our leadership team and learn about our mission to provide a Christ-centered education that nurtures the whole child.
•    Visit classrooms and see firsthand how our teachers integrate biblical truth with strong academics in a warm, engaging environment.
•    Experience our school culture, rooted in honoring God, being a good friend, and working hard.
•    Learn about our curriculum and student support services
•    Ask questions about daily routines, expectations, tuition, and anything else your family has questions about.
•    Discover how we partner with parents, believing that education is most powerful when home and school work together.
•    Receive next steps for completing your child’s application

Step 3:  Submit an application
After completing your tour, the next step is to begin the formal application process. Apply online at:
ShepherdChristian.org → Prospective Families → Admissions/Apply.
Please submit the following items:
•    Application & Fee - Complete and submit the online application, including the non-refundable application fee.
•    Birth Certificate - Upload a copy of your child’s official birth certificate.
•    Academic Records - Provide a copy of your child’s report cards.
•    Standardized Test Scores - Submit your child’scurrent standardized test scores. If the language arts and math results are within the last 6 months, admissions testing may be waived.
•    EdChoice - Submit the EdChoice request form available during the application process or on our website.
•    Proof of Residency - Upload a current, dated utility bill showing your mailing AND service address as verification of your home address.

Step 4:  Attend a Family Connections Session
Once your application materials have been received, your family will attend a Family Connections Session — a one-on-one meeting with our principal and a member of our team. This session helps ensure that Shepherd Christian is a place where your child can grow spiritually, physically, academically and socially.
This conversation allows us to:
•    Learn about your child’s strengths, needs, interests, and goals.
•    Hear your family’s hopes and expectations for a Christ-centered education.
•    Discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
•    Understand what brought your family to Shepherd Christian School.
•    Begin building a strong partnership between home and school.

Step 5:  Student Assessment (If needed)
Some students may be required to complete an academic assessment that helps us ensure that we understand your child’s academic needs and can best support their success at Shepherd Christian School.
If testing is required:
•    An appointment will be scheduled at a time convenient for your family.
•    Your child will be assessed in a calm, supportive setting
If your child’s recent standardized test scores meet the requirements, this step may be waived and you can proceed directly to Step 6.

Step 6:  File review by Admissions Team
After all required pieces of the admissions process are complete, our team carefully reviews your child’s full admissions file. This collaborative review ensures that we have a complete picture of your child and can make the most informed decision for their success at Shepherd Christian School.
During this review, our team considers:
•    Standardized Testing or SCS Student Assessment results
•    Grade cards and academic history
•    Application information and submitted documents
•    Insights from the Family Connections Session
Our goal is to prayerfully and thoughtfully evaluate how Shepherd Christian School can best partner with your family in supporting your child’s spiritual, academic, and personal growth.

Step 7:  Admissions Decision
After the review is complete, a member of our team will contact your family by phone to share the admissions decision and outline next steps. Every family receives a personal phone call, whether accepted or not, as we believe communication should always be clear, caring, and respectful. We approach every decision with prayer and a desire to serve families well.
